There’s something magical about La Ventana. You feel like you’re part of something bigger—something shared with every rider out there. As fall rolls in and the wind grows colder along the West Coast each fall, a familiar migration begins. Kitesurfers and wingfoilers from places like Hood River, Oregon, Seattle, Washington, San Francisco, California, and more all flock to La Ventana, Baja California Sur, to escape the chill and chase the smooth, welcoming winds and the warm warmers and inviting community.
During the summer months, we teach in Corpus Christi, but come October, we also make our way here for the prime 15 to 25-knot winds. This allows us to teach kitesurfing year-round in optimal conditions. We love teaching here, and you will love learning and staying here.

From November through April, La Ventana enjoys reliable, consistent winds fueled by thermals, the Venture, and sometimes the El Norte wind system. While no place can guarantee wind, this place is consistent enough for us and many others to call it home in the winter. The wind usually picks up in the late morning, building into the afternoon, blowing consistently between 15-25 knots.
For wingsurfing, this makes for ideal conditions for cruising and playing in the rolling swell for the intermediate riders.
Peak wind conditions are in January and February. Expect 15 -25 knots, sometimes as much as 30 knots.
