Choosing the Right Kiteboarding Lesson

Want to Make Real Progress? Try Our 7-Hour Kiteboarding Package

Our seven-hour progression package gives you focused coaching over multiple sessions without rushing the learning process.

Complete beginners build a strong foundation in equipment setup, safety, kite control, body dragging, and progressing toward water starts. Returning and experienced riders receive personalized coaching based on their current ability, priorities, and goals for their time in La Ventana.

Whether you’re flying a kite for the first time or working on more advanced skills, each lesson is tailored to help you make meaningful progress.

Just Getting Started? Try a Beginner Lesson (Level 1)

Perfect if you're curious about kiteboarding or just want to try it out before committing.

In this intro session, you’ll learn:

  • Kite setup and wind theory

  • How to safely fly and control a trainer kite

  • Key safety systems and how to use them

  • Basic body dragging and controlled kite movement

You may not get on the board during this first session, but you'll get a strong foundation and know whether kiteboarding is for you.

Know the Basics But Not Riding Yet? (Level 2 – Intermediate)

If you’ve taken a lesson or two and know how to control the kite but can’t ride solo yet, Level 2 is your next step.

You’ll work on:

  • Water starts and basic board skills

  • Relaunching the kite from the water

  • Controlling power and balance while riding

  • Upwind body dragging to retrieve your board

The focus here is on gaining independence on the water.

Need a Tune-Up? (Level 3 – Advanced)

If you're already riding but want to improve your technique, this lesson is for you.

We'll focus on:

  • Riding longer distances with more control

  • Upwind riding and transitions

  • Foot positioning, edging, and speed

  • Starting on small jumps or tricks (if you're ready)

Perfect for riders returning after a break or wanting to progress faster. We offer refresher courses for riders who have not practiced in a while and will need to revisit how everything works.

Want to Learn With a Friend? Try the Shared Beginner Course

If you and a friend or partner want to try kiteboarding together, the shared beginner lesson gives you both a taste of the sport in a relaxed, social setting.

You’ll take turns flying the kite and learning side by side while still getting personal instruction. It’s a fun, lower-pressure way to start.
